Experience the London Marathon route

In more usual years, our route takes in some of the most famous landmarks in the city – including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf. You can get a taste of the course without getting out of breath by watching our speeded-up participant’s eye view of the full 26.2 miles on our route page, which also includes a map and other key information about the iconic course.

Be inspired by the London Marathon

We want to inspire everyone to get active and enjoy The Virgin Money London Marathon – even if you’re not actually taking part. You can join in the spectacle by supporting the runners on Marathon Day, see our How to follow the Virgin Money London Marathon page for details.

If you live or work in the city you may also be interested in how the London Marathon may affect your travel plans over the event weekend, which is why we provide details of road closures and information for residents too.

We hope you enjoy learning more about our flagship event – we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved, but it’s only possible with your continued enthusiasm and support.
