Good For Age Entry

Good For Age applications for the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon

The deadline to apply for a Good For Age place in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon has now passed. The time frame for submitting your qualification evidence for a 2021 Good For Age place was from 4 November until 16:00 on 16 November 2020.

If you submitted an application, you needed to provide evidence of a qualifying performance achieved between 1 January 2019 and 4 October 2020. Table 2 below displays the qualifying performance times.

Please note: even if you have achieved the qualifying time in the new qualifying window of 1 January 2019 to 4 October 2020, we cannot guarantee you will be offered a Good For Age place in the 2021 event as the maximum number of Good For Age places is 6,000 (3,000 men and 3,000 women). Places will be allocated on a ‘fastest first’ basis.

Good For Age (GFA) entry is open to UK residents only.

If you had a Good For Age place in 2020

Good For Age qualifying time AFTER 1 January 2019?

If you had a place in the 2020 event and your previous qualifying time was run in a qualifying event after 1 January 2019 and before 7 August 2019, you can relax – we will have emailed you on September 1 to offer you a GFA place in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon.

However, please note that if you requested a refund of your 2020 entry fee, or you did not respond before the deadline of 17:00 BST on Friday 18 September 2020, you will not have a rolled over place in a future event.

Qualifying time BEFORE January 2019?

If you wanted to roll your place over to 2021 you had two options:

1. You were able to apply for a GFA place in the 2021 event if you ran the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on 4 October 2020 in a time displayed in Table 1 below.

The time frame for submitting your qualifying evidence for a 2021 Good for Age place was from 4 to 16:00 on 16 November 2020.

If you qualified for the 2020 event before 1 January 2019, but you did not achieve a qualifying time in the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on 4 October 2020, or during the 2021, 2022 or 2023 qualifying periods, you were offered a guaranteed place in the 2023 event, but it will not be on a GFA Start.

Please remember that if you requested a refund when we emailed you on 1 September, you relinquished any claim to your place being rolled over to the 2021, 2022 or 2023 London Marathons.

If you took part in 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon but did not have a Good For Age place

If you did not have a GFA place in the 2020 event, you can still apply for a 2021 GFA place if you achieved a Table 1 qualifying time in the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on 4 October.

You’ll also need to submit evidence of a half marathon time that meets the qualifying time displayed in Table 3 below.

You must have run this time on a certified course/event from 1 January 2019 to 4 October 2020. The details of how to do this will be on this page by the end of 4 November, and you will need to submit this evidence by the deadline of 16:00 on 16 November 2020.
