Places provided by International Tour Operators in 2021*
The situation with international travel is continually changing, with restrictions across the globe generally easing week by week.
We therefore extended the entry deadline for international runners to Monday 30 August.
At the time of writing (17 August), you do not need to quarantine on arrival in England if:
You are travelling from the following countries: USA or EU countries, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and the Vatican City.
You have not been in a Red list country for the last 10 days
You are double vaccinated (for at least 14 days), in the USA with a vaccine authorised by FDA, or in EU countries, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino or Vatican City with a vaccine authorised by EMA, or in Switzerland with a vaccine authorised by SwissMedic, or in the UK (or under the UK vaccine programme overseas) with a vaccine authorised by the MHRA.
THEN you can travel to England without quarantine.
You can also travel to England without having to quarantine if you are:
double vaccinated in the above regions/countries with the authorised vaccine
and you are coming from any Amber or Green list country
and you have not been in a Red list country for the last 10 days
You will still need to follow rules on Covid testing before and after arrival and produce authorised evidence of having been double vaccinated.
For the most up-to-date information on the rules regarding vaccination status and travel from your country of residence to England, visit here.
If it is not possible for you to travel to England without quarantine on arrival OR without quarantine on return to your country of origin, and you do not wish to go through that process, then we can arrange for the return of your entry fee to your International Tour Operator.
Your Tour Operator may be able to arrange for you to transfer your entry to another London Marathon, but there is no guarantee of this and you must discuss your options with your Tour Operator.
*Participants from China should reach out to Wanda Sports.
Places from the 2021 international ballot
If you are an international runner and got your place through the international ballot for the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, you can defer your place to 2022. Please withdraw from the event by 20:00 on Saturday 2 October. We will then email you in due course with the opportunity to pay for and secure a guaranteed entry for 2022.
Please note: if your country of origin, or the UK, will not permit you to travel to and from England at any stage from 30 August 2021 to 3 October 2021 without quarantine, you will not need to pay the 2022 entry fee.
However, if your country of origin and the UK allows non-quarantined travel from 30 August 2021 to 3 October 2021, you will be required to pay the 2022 international entry fee of £99 (you will not be charged the £26 carbon offset fee again as you have not travelled) for the 2022 event in due course.
Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Championships
If your country of origin will not permit you to travel to England at any stage from 30 August 2021 to Sunday 3 October 2021 or if the UK government will not permit entry from your country of origin in the same time period, you may either request a full refund of your entry fee or transfer your entry to the 2023 Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Championships. This event is scheduled to take place in North America in the first three months of 2023.
We will contact you by the end of October 2021 to offer you the choice of these two options, but you must withdraw from the 2021 event by by completing this form before 20:00 on Saturday 2 October to be eligible. Please note: it is not possible to defer your place to the 2022 event.
