Deferring your Virgin Money London Marathon entry
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. If circumstances mean you’re not able to take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon, you may be able to defer your entry – see below for more details.
The 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon
The Virgin Money London Marathon could not go ahead in its usual format this year, so instead The 40th Race took place on Sunday 4 October, with elite races on a closed-loop, biosecure course in St James’s Park, while more than 36,000 people worldwide took part in a virtual event.
Because the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon was cancelled, we offered participants the chance to defer their place to another year – even if they were taking part in the virtual event.
It’s now too late to defer your place from the cancelled 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon to another year if you have not done so already. Everyone who did defer has been allocated their chosen year. Where a deferral choice was not made, a full refund of the entry fee, where eligible, will be made by 31 October.
The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon
If you entered the ballot for the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon you will find out if you’ve been successful in January 2021 – good luck! If you do gain a place and then are unable to take part on Sunday October 3 next year, you may be able to defer your place to a later London Marathon.
Further information on withdrawing from the 2021 event and the deferral process will be available soon.
