Championship places in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Championship place in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon.

The deadline to submit your application was 16:00 on Monday 18 January and has now passed.

Please note: if you have a Good for Age (GFA) place in the 2021 event already, you will have the opportunity to upgrade your GFA place to a Championship place in July 2021.

Runners with qualifying times in 2019

If you had a place in the 2020 event and your time was run in a qualifying event from 1 January 2019 to 17 January 2020, you will have been offered a Championship entry in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3 October 2021.

Runners with qualifying times BEFORE 1 January 2019

If you had a Championship place in the 2020 event and you ran the qualifying time before 1 January 2019, but subsequently achieve the 2020 qualifying time between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020 as published in Table 1 below, you will be able to receive a guaranteed Championship place in the 2021 event, subject to providing evidence of the qualifying performance.

If you had a place in the 2020 event and you ran the qualifying time in 2018, you can gain a Championship entry in the 2021 event if you ran a full marathon time displayed in Table 1 below in the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 4 October.

Please note: these qualifying times apply for the 2021 race only and are only applicable for runners who had previously qualified for the 2020 event and run the required time in the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon.
