Sir Mo Farah returns to the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 28 April 2019, a year on from his breakthrough run in London.

After turning his attention from racing on the track to the roads, Farah finished third in 2018, setting a new British marathon record time of 2:06:21.

Farah broke the record again in October as he ran 2:05:11 to win the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and is targeting another strong performance in London in April.

"I was in pain, but I was just thinking about that British record," says Farah, looking back at last year's race.

"That result from the Virgin Money London Marathon gave me self belief, gave me motivation towards another marathon.

"I knew in myself if I could run those kind of times – a British record – going out that hard...if I can go out a little bit slower then I should be capable of running a decent time."
