Record registrations for the 30th London Marathon
A record number of runners have registered to start the 2010 Virgin London Marathon tomorrow, more than ever before in the 30-year history of the event.
When registration desks at the London Marathon Expo at the Excel Centre closed at 5pm this afternoon, a total of 37,527 accepted applicants for places in the race had picked up their running numbers and Ipico Sports Timing tags.
This means the predicted 36,000 runners are expected to cross the finish line in The Mall at the end of the race tomorrow.
The mass race will start at 9.45am, 45 minutes after the elite women set off from Blackheath, and 25 minutes after the men's and women's wheelchair races get underway.
