Mencap has been named the official Charity of the Year for the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon.

Through the Here I Am campaign, Mencap aims to kick-start a movement of change, and take a huge step towards greater inclusion for people with a learning disability.

The money raised by runners for the charity at the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon will fund inclusion projects bringing together young people with and without a learning disability through sport.

Charlotte Aspley who has a learning disability and is running the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon said: “Just like you, I laugh, I cry, I love, I hurt. And just like you, I have dreams and ambitions – like running the London Marathon.

"I also have a learning disability. But there is so much more to me than that. Get to know me and you might be surprised.”

Runners who sign up for #TeamMencap will receive dedicated support from the Mencap Marathon team and a fundraising pack with great tips and advice. There will be training days, and a post-race massage and reception.
