Deferred Entry Due to Illness or Injury
If you had to withdraw your 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon ballot entry through illness or injury we guarantee you an entry for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon (unless you had already carried your ballot entry over from 2016), providing that you followed these simple instructions:
You needed to complete the online withdrawal form no later than Saturday 22 April 2017 at 20:00. If you completed the online withdrawal form, you would have been sent an email confirming your withdrawal.
Providing you adhered to the dates below and paid the appropriate entry fee, you will be accepted for the 2018 race unless you have already carried your entry over from the 2016 race or if the entry was received from a charity or sponsor. Please note that runners may only defer their place for one year.
Runners who withdraw will receive an email link for a guaranteed place for the 2018 race by Monday 5 June 2017. If you have not heard from us by Monday 5 June 2017 please telephone our Helpdesk on 020 7902 0200 on Monday 5 June and certainly no later than Wednesday 21 June 2017. Failure to do so will result in loss of entry. The closing date for completion of the online guaranteed entry form is 17:00 on Friday 23 June 2017.
Please note that entry fees are not refundable under any circumstances (see terms and conditions). However, we do offer this option to apply for a guaranteed entry for the following year to everyone who got their place through the ballot and then has to withdraw. This means it is not necessary to go through the ballot process again. Please note that it is only possible to withdraw and apply for a guaranteed place once. If you took up a guaranteed place for 2017 and then withdrew again, you will not be eligible for a guaranteed place in 2018.
In order to secure your guaranteed place in 2018, you must meet the deadlines outlined in the withdrawal process and pay the entry fee for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon.
