Applications for a championship entry place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon will be available soon.
Do I qualify?
If you're a member of an athletics club associated with British Athletics and you achieve(d) a championship-qualifying performance for a marathon (or half marathon) in 2015 or 2016, you were able to apply for a championship entry place in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon before the deadline of 17:00 on Monday 9 January.
You needed to have completed a marathon (or half marathon) in the same time, or faster than, the times listed below – these are the official championship qualifying performance times. Your qualifying time must have been achieved after 1 January 2015:

Additionally, you must be registered with your National Governing Body (i.e. England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland) otherwise your application will be rejected. If you are unsure whether or not you are registered, please check with your NGB.
Please note: If you already had a Good for Age place in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon you did not need to apply again. Please email email@example.com after 23 January for instructions on how to upgrade your entry.
Greater Manchester Marathon results
Following the announcement that the course used for the Greater Manchester Marathon in 2013, 2014 and 2015 was 380m short of the 26.2-mile distance, London Marathon Events Ltd has reviewed its Championship qualification process.
London Marathon Events Ltd continued to accept times recorded in the Greater Manchester Marathon in 2015 for Championship time qualification for the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon, with the following conditions:
- One minute and 45 seconds will be added to the official finish time
Brighton Half Marathon results
Following the announcement that the course used for the Brighton half Marathon in 2016 was 146m short of the 13.1-mile distance, London Marathon Events Ltd has reviewed its Championship qualification process:
- For female runners, thirty-eight (38) seconds will be added to the official finish time
- For male runners, thirty-one (31) seconds will be added to the official finish time
