Championship Entry

Applications for a championship entry into the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon are now open.

Runners will need to submit their application by 17:00 on Monday 7 January 2019. Once you have applied, we will be checking your application and if successful, we will send you an email containing a link, which will allow you to complete and pay for your entry.

If you have not received an email by 17:00 on Wednesday 16 January 2019 please call our helpdesk on 0207 902 0200.

The closing date for completing and paying for your entry (if successful) is 17:00 on Monday 21 January 2019.

Do I qualify?

If you're a member of an athletics club associated with British Athletics and you achieve(d) a championship-qualifying performance for a marathon (or half marathon) in 2017 or 2018, you are able to apply for a championship entry place in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.

You will need to have completed a marathon (or half marathon) in the same time, or faster than, the times listed below – these are the official championship qualifying performance times. Your qualifying time must be achieved after 1 January 2017:

Half marathon sub 1:15 Half marathon sub 1:30

Additionally, you must be registered with your National Governing Body (ie England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland) otherwise your application will be rejected. If you are unsure whether or not you are registered, please check with your NGB.

If you already have an entry into the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon (GFA or ballot) and wish to upgrade to the championship, you are not required to enter again. Please email us on the address below after Monday 21 January 2019 for further information on how to upgrade your entry.

Brighton Half Marathon results

Following the announcement last year that the course used for the Brighton Half Marathon in 2017 was 146m short of the 13.1-mile distance, London Marathon Events Ltd has reviewed its Championship qualification process.

London Marathon Events Ltd will continue to accept times recorded in the Brighton Half Marathon in 2017 for Championship time qualification for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon, with the following conditions:

·         For female runners, 38 seconds will be added to the official finish time
·         For male runners, 31 seconds will be added to the official finish time
