The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity Ballot

If you’re looking to enter the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity Ballot the deadline has passed. The good news is that your charity will be able to enter the 2022 London Marathon Charity Ballot if it meets the eligibility criteria – watch this space for updates and timings and read below for more details of the process.

My charity wants to enter the Charity Ballot

  • From the charities that enter the Virgin Money London Marathon Charity Ballot, 500 will be selected at random. These selected charities are awarded one entry each, giving them the unique opportunity to choose a fundraiser to take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon in support of their cause.
  • All UK registered charities can enter. We do not accept entries from non-UK registered charities. Charities also cannot enter the Virgin Money London Marathon Charity Ballot if they currently hold a Virgin Money London Marathon Golden Bond, they hold a Silver Bond place for the Virgin Money London Marathon, or they gained a place via the Charity Ballot in the previous year.
  • No. If you’re an individual runner you need to apply via the Virgin Money London Marathon Ballot.
  • If your charity meets the criteria outlined above it can enter the Charity Ballot for a chance to secure one guaranteed place – we will let you know when the 2022 London Marathon Charity Ballot is open for entries. Please note that, due to high demand, we can only accept one application per charity.
  • We will email you with the outcome of your ballot entry.
  • The cost of entry is £370 plus VAT and we will invoice you for this amount.

My charity has a Charity Ballot entry

  • We host a webinar for all successful charities to give you an overview of the process works and timings. You will also receive access to an entry console that will allow you to register and administer your runners.
  • You will receive an email containing a link to your online entry console and the deadline for registering your runners. We normally allow a few months to complete entries. We do not accept any late entries.
  • You can give it to anyone, as long as they do not breach the terms and conditions of entry.
  • No, you cannot sell the place or transfer it to another charity. If your charity merges with another charity, please contact gbinfo@londonmarathonevents.co.uk.
  • Any unused charity entries will automatically roll over to the following year at no extra cost. If you do not use the entry in the following year, it cannot be rolled over again and no refund for the unused place will be given.
  • Please contact our Customer Services team confirming your charity’s name, the fact that you hold a Charity Ballot place, and the information you would like to be updated.
